THE MOST SCENIC DISC GOLF COURSE IN ARIZONA

05/19/09 - The Disc Golf course is now open, with the exception of Hole #2 (it needs to dry out). The tee signs are not up yet. If you are unfamiliar with the course, either stop by the Sport Shop or download and print of the course map.

Starting at an elevation of 9,500 feet, the Arizona Snowbowl Disc Golf course is the premier course in northern Arizona. It’s nestled below the summit of the majestic Humphreys Peak, Arizona’s highest point, at 12,633 feet. The course starts and finishes at the Agassiz Lodge, with a practice basket just outside the lodge. The disc golf course is free, but there’s a donation box on the way to the first hole. Please remember:

  • The ski area entrance gate is locked at 5:00 PM. Please park below the gate if you plan to be here past 5:00 PM.
  • Don’t litter. If you pack it in, pack it out.
  • Enjoy the National Forest; respect the resort and other forest users.
  • The course layout is on irregular and mountainous terrain. Please hike carefully and watch your step.
  • Please be careful with cigarettes and matches. Extinguish them thoroughly.

Course Description

The course meanders around the Arizona Snowbowl Ski Area. You play the first five holes around the bottom of the Agassiz Lift. Hole 6 leads you through a forested trail to the edge of Hart Prairie. Holes 7 through 9 are played in the open expanse of Hart Prairie, offering spectacular views of northern Arizona. Hole 9 finishes near the Hart Prairie Lodge.

Hole 10 starts just above the Sunset Lift, across Snowbowl Road. Holes 10 and 11 work their way up Southern Belle ski run. Hole 12 crosses underneath the Sunset Lift, but be careful not to hit the lift. Northstar Run is the setting for Holes 13 through 17, creating some incredible holes and with a need for accurate shots (Hole 16 is the actual second hole from the 2003 World Disc Golf Championships). Hole 18, the final hole, is played down the lower portion of Agassiz Run. An over thrown shot on this hole could put your disc beyond the basket, leading to several extra shots.
