SNOWPLAY AREAS NEAR THE ARIZONA SNOWBOWL

SNOWPLAY— sledding, tubing, building snowmen, etc. — is not permitted within the Arizona Snowbowl ski area, nor is it allowed at any point on Snowbowl Road. Directions below are from Snowbowl Rd. and Hwy. 180:

  • Wing Mountain: Continue northwest on Highway 180 approximately 2.8 miles (just before mile post 226) and turn left on FR 222B and continue 1 mile to parking area. This site is open 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM daily as snow conditions allow and is managed by Recreation Resource Management under a Temporary Special Use Permit. The cost per vehicle is $10. Services include parking management, snowplowing, restrooms, trash receptacles, and the sale of winter gear and concessions on busy weekends and holidays. This area was closed this week due to sparse snow but hopes to re-open for the weekend. For current conditions at Wing Mountain call 928-226-0493 or visit www.snowplayaz.com.
  • Crowley Pit: Continue northwest on Highway 180, approximately 9.8 miles (about 1 mile past the Flagstaff Nordic Center) and turn left at the parking sign (mile post 233) and continue to the parking area.
  • Walker Lake (also know as the Kendrick Park Watchable Wildlife Area): Continue northwest on Highway 180. approximately 14 miles and turn left into the parking area (mile post 235).
